BSMRSTU Student Gang-Raped, Students Block Dhaka-Khulna Highway

Agitated students have blocked the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Gopalganj from 8 am today in protest of the gang rape of a student of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU ).

According to the students, the victim student was walking with her friend in front of the Nabinbagh Helipad in Gopalganj Sadar. 7/8 people from the middle of the road picked them up in an Auto. Later, they took them to the building under construction of Gopalganj district school, beat his classmate and raped her.

When the students of the university came to know about the incident, they took the position in front of the police station at night and gave a three-point demand and ultimatum. Later today, the students blocked the road from around 8 am.

The three-point demand is:

1. SP, DC, and VC will have to sit in open discussion with the students physically within one hour.

2. The rapists have to be arrested and their identities have to be revealed by 6 am.

3. The safety of all students, including the aggrieved student, must be ensured.

Proctor Raziur Rahman said, "I spoke to the student immediately and I myself filed a case with the Gopalganj Sadar Police Station."

Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations) Nihad Adnan Tahian said a search operation was carried out at the spot immediately. Our team has already started the campaign. Hopefully, in a very short time, we will be able to arrest those involved.
